![]() ![]() ![]() RetroArch is a frontend for emulators, game engines and media players. However, if you are using a system that relies primarily on RetroArch for emulation (like Xbox), or you have a beefy PC that can run well regardless of optimizations, you may find success in emulating higher-end systems in RetroArch, too. For more modern consoles, it is often more efficient to rely on standalone emulators, which are generally more optimized than RetroArch. RetroArch really shines on retro systems, particularly PlayStation 1 and below games. The video will primarily be done on Windows PC, but the same method will apply to MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Vita, and Xbox platforms, and more. This guide is meant to help you get set up with various RetroArch iterations. In this guide I’m going to demystify some of the more peculiar things about this emulation frontend, and show you how I set up RetroArch on my own gaming platforms. But it does have quite a steep learning curve. RetroArch is one of my favorite programs to use for retro game emulation, because it can emulate many systems. Press select during gameplay and you can change to the classic western control scheme (the C one) so you can pick up objects with x instead of circle. You need the japanese version of both games, you can english patch them easily or pm me for a link. There are also widescreen patches for both Outbreak games, unizip the folder named cheats_ws inside your pcsx2 folder then open pcsx2, select system/enable widescreen patches. To arrange the different pcsx2 windows you can use apps like winsplit and borderstripper to remove the windows borders. This is recommended so each player has its own memory card and progress, also configure each instance with different gamepad in pcsx2 config/controllers. Just makes copies of your full pcsx2 folder to other location and connect the same way using different obsrv accounts, up to 4 players can play on one pc. To play 4 players splitscreen locally like this: Run any of the two Resident Evil Outbreak games and in the title screen go to networkplay, then select previous connection and you will be able to connect, log in using your obsrv account and you are good to go. On config, plugin/bios selector in the plugin option DEV9 select the CLR_DEV9 plugin and in the bios setting remember to select the same bios corresponding to the outbreak memory card, select apply. Open pcsx2 and go to config/memory cards and select the outbreak preconfigured memory card and press insert then ok. Next open the folder called plugins and place the CLR_DEV9.dll file inside. Open your pcsx2 folder and inside the folder named memcards place one of the preconfigured memory cards you just downloaded according to the ps2 bios region you are using, bios files go inside the bios folder inside your pcsx2 folder.
